Photo — the grow room

01The brief

The room doesn't need a lecture. It needs the cost.

Most fungi talks are either a slide deck of mycelium diagrams or a founder story with the failures sanded off. Audiences leave impressed and unchanged, which is the most expensive kind of talk to book.

What a room actually wants is the part that hurt — the grow rooms I killed, the substrate decision I ate the cost of, the night that ended the wanting. That is where a transferable lesson lives.

02The build

Four talks, four rooms.

01

I woke up on the floor

Fifteen years coaching, a back injury, a prescription, a dependency, and one night that ended it. What the medicine did and didn’t do. For recovery and health rooms.

02

From a small farm to a million pounds

How a self-taught grower co-founded one of the Midwest’s largest indoor farms — closed-loop systems, the rooms I killed, and what actually scales. For business, ag and founders.

03

Fungi and the future of food

Mycelium as infrastructure: feeding people, cleaning waste streams, regenerating soil. Marinara into 400 Chicago schools is the small story that explains a very large one.

04

The art of not betraying yourself

Why willpower fails and systems don’t. Five pillars, the neuroscience of the window, and why the experience is twenty percent. For leadership, teams and wellness.

05

However the room is built

Thirty to sixty minutes, with or without Q&A. Keynote, panel, workshop or classroom — the material adapts, the honesty doesn’t.

03The receipts

Rooms I've been in.

05What it taught me

The failures are the only part anyone uses.

Nobody has ever come up afterwards to ask about the million pounds. They ask about the room I killed, the decision that cost real money, the year it nearly didn’t hold. The wins prove I was there. The losses are what they can take home.

Tell them what it cost. That’s the part that transfers.
