The Journey That Turned Pain Into Purpose

My Journey of Regeneration
My Journey of Regeneration

I'm John James Staniszewski

For fifteen years, I was a fitness coach and competitor — helping others sculpt their bodies while quietly numbing my own pain with painkillers and stimulants.

After a back injury and the loss of my mother and grandparents, I spiraled — until one psilocybin experience changed everything.

Within days, I dropped the pills and discovered a new purpose: to learn from the intelligence of fungi and help others do the same.

In 2020, I co-founded Windy City Mushroom, a 50,000 sq ft vertical farm turning agricultural waste into organic food.
Soon after, I launched Fungitarian Food & Lifestyle, making gourmet mushroom meals accessible across the Midwest.

Our Mission

To harness the healing potential of fungi — through food, medicine, and community — so people and the planet can grow back stronger together.

Our Vision

To create a world where mushrooms are part of everyday life — nourishing bodies, healing minds, and restoring ecosystems.

What It Means to Be a Fungitarian

A Fungitarian is someone who believes mushrooms can feed the body, expand the mind, and regenerate the planet.
Through food, medicine, and education, we’re connecting science, spirituality, and sustainability — creating systems that help people and ecosystems thrive together.

The Future of the Fungitarian Movement

The next chapter is about building healing centers, creating science-backed mushroom supplements, and mentoring the next generation of regenerative leaders.

The Philosophy Behind the Fungitarian Way

I believe discipline is medicine, community is therapy, and nature is the ultimate teacher.
Through mushrooms, we can reconnect to rhythm, humility, and purpose — not just for ourselves, but for the world around us.

Regeneration

Healing begins with giving back to the earth.

01.
